Community Shop Meeting 13th January

East Morton Community Shop:
Following a survey undertaken last summer, 80 or more residents in East Morton supported the idea of developing a community shop using the building in the village centre currently housing the public toilets.
With this aim in view and with the financial support of the village society, an application was submitted to Bradford Council planning department. Outline planning permission has subsequently been granted for the building’s change of use.
Next steps include the formation of a steering group and negotiations with the council about an asset transfer of the building under a lease hold arrangement.
Residents are invited to attend a meeting to be held on the 13th January in the Institute, Denise Wilson a member of Clapham’s Community Shop steering group will talk about how they developed a business plan and successfully opened a shop in their community.
Denise who used to live in Wilsden, should be informative about the challenges inherent in the project.
A website giving information on the development plan will be available in the spring.
More information can be found on the project by e mailing
